Video Analysis

Video analysis is a major thing to see if the message you are trying to get through to the audience is efficient. It is also important because it can help you get ideas and improve what you want to do or what you have done so far depending on if you are at the stage where you are creating a video or planning to do so. It helps you to positively self criticize yourself to see if what you have done is good enough or still needs improvements either on the cuts, effects applied, transitions music synchronization or any other things. Down below is my own video analysis on different videos.

Upon analysing this first video I have counted that there are around 100 cuts in the whole video and around 15 different locations in the video which if you do a simple math calculation that there are 248 second of the video divided by 100 (the number of cuts) gives an average result of a cut every 2.48 seconds therefore I have deduced that the reason of having 15 different locations and cuts approximately every 2.48 seconds is for the frames to go into rhythm with the flow of the song.

Whilst inspecting this music video after counting I have determined that this video also has about 100 cuts but has around 13 different locations and after applying the same equation of the number of seconds of the video divided by the number of cuts which is 223 seconds divided by 100 gives and approximate average of a cut every 2.23 seconds. With these results and analysing the music I can give the conclusion that the cuts and all the different locations are like this not only for the frames to have the same rhythm with the flow of the song, but it also relates to the theme of the song "Anywhere".

While playing close attention to this video I have counted an approximate of 135 cuts and only 3 different locations. After applying the same mathematical equation which is doing the duration of the video in seconds which is 223 seconds divided by the amount of cuts which are 135 results in an approximate average of a cut every 1.65 seconds making it quite fast and my conclusion is that taking into account the flow of the music it doesn't quite match the cuts but it does match the theme and the emotion that it's trying to give to its viewers alongside with only 3 location making me conclude that the speed of the cuts and low amount of locations.

Conclusion

So in conclusion all the cuts and different locations are used for the flow and rhythm of the music as well as instigating all specific emotions to the audience if they have had a similar experience to the music video or the words from the music can be related to or just all together the music video give specific mood and thoughts to the audience. The video might even try get a message along from the producers and the artists to the audience usually to give positive thoughts or to make the audience see things from their perspectives.
